Court rules against homeowners in toxic water case

The Supreme Court ruled Monday that a group of homeowners in North Carolina can’t sue a company that contaminated their drinking water decades ago because a state deadline has lapsed, a decision that could prevent thousands of other property owners in similar cases from recovering damages after being exposed to toxic waste.

In a 7-2 decision, the justices said state law strictly bars any lawsuit brought more than 10 years after the contamination occurred — even if residents did not realize their water was polluted until years later.

The government is relying on the same state law to avoid liability.

My home is being destroyed in order to power this country! Entire mountain ranges are being leveled, at the hands of mountaintop removal. It breaks my heart to see everything I love being ripped away… forever. I’ve been studying the forests of Appalachia for over 5 years now… I know them in a way that many don’t. I know the dark coves lined with Hemlocks reaching higher than the cliffs, I know the waterfalls hidden away in valleys that have never been seen, I know the wilderness, the places untouched by man. These places are my “home”, my peace, my joy, what keeps me sane. This is why I can’t give up. I will never stop trying to save my home. This place is a treasure of unique and rare plants and animals. Life is everywhere you look. Everything I love is at stake. I see a mountaintop removal site, and it hurts my guts… it rips my heart out. I see my people suffer, from poverty, dirty water, contaminated air… I have to be their voice.

I have to stand up, and educate a world that doesn’t understand what we are doing to our planet, and to our people. It’s time to change our destructive ways, and live in peace with nature. We have FREE clean, renewable energy all around us! We can power the world in ways that don’t kill the planet. Big industries don’t want us to tap into these resources, because they wouldn’t be making money from it. It’s time for us, as a WHOLE to stand up and demand CLEAN ENERGY!!!

Show your support, and your dedication to the planet. Inspire others to learn about clean energy! It’s time for change!!! (:

ENDLESS ELECTRICITY: Here’s A Way Of Turning America’s Roads Into Gigantic Solar Panels

There are about 31,251 square miles of roads, parking lots, driveways, playgrounds, bike paths, and sidewalks in the lower 48 states. If Julie and Scott Brusaw have their way, they will all someday be replaced with solar panels.

For the better part of a decade, the Idaho couple has been working on prototyping an industrial-strength panel that could withstand the weight of even the largest trucks. They now appear to have cracked the formula, developing a specially textured glass coating for the panels that can not only bear tremendous loads but also support standard tire traction.

By their reckoning, at peak installation their panelized roads could produce more than three times the electricity consumed in the U.S.

The material could power electric vehicles through a receiver plate mounted beneath the vehicle and a transmitter plate is installed in the road.

THIS IS UNBELIEVABLY IMPORTANT AND UNBELIEVABLY DISAPPOINTING THAT IT’S GOTTEN SUCH LITTLE ATTENTION.

PEOPLE THINK ABOUT IT, JUST HOW MANY ROADS THERE ARE ALL OVER THE WORLD AND HOW MUCH ENERGY COULD BE PRODUCED USING THESE LIKE SERIOUSLY “THREE TIMES THE ELECTRICITY CONSUMED IN THE U.S”. IT’S NOT JUST GOING TO HELP REDUCE THE AMOUNTS OF GREEN HOUSE EMISSIONS, IT’S GOING TO CREATE JOBS IN THE COUNTRIES IT’S USED IN. IT HAS SO MUCH EXTRA STUFF IT’S UNBELIEVABLE HOW AMAZING THE ROAD COULD BE.

THESE PEOPLE ARE SAINTS, THEY’VE WORKED THEIR BUTTS OFF AND VOLUNTEERS HAVE WORKED JUST AS HARD TO GET TO THIS LEVEL BUT THEY STILL HAVE JUST UNDER $ 800,000 TO RAISE IN 15 DAYS.

THIS SORTA STUFF IS HOW WE’RE GOING TO CREATE A GREENER EARTH AND IT’S BEEN VIRTUALLY IGNORED BY TUMBLR. WE NEED TO SUPPORT THIS STUFF AND THESE SORTS OF PEOPLE WHO SELFLESSLY DEDICATE THEIR WORK TO CREATING A BETTER WORLD.

PLEASASASASASSSSSSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE PEOPLE NEED TO SEE THIS.
